About the artist.

I was born in Junín, Argentina. I had a great teacher, Osvaldo Moris, who didn’t simply help me improve my technical abilities, but also helped me develop a good relationship with music and with the guitar. He was also an experienced luthier (guitar maker).

I then studied Orchestral Direction and in 1991 I traveled to Spain, my current residence. Whenever I have had the opportunity, I have produced concerts of my own works and arrangements of the music of Astor Piazzolla, Egberto Gismonti or Nana Vasconçelos. I am also a lover of jazz, and sometimes I add jazz improvisations into my works.

Until 2007, I dedicated most of my time to symphonic music, orchestrating some operas and musicals and also conducting the opera “Las Moradas” by composer José Luis Tierno (November 2007).

On Segovia.

Segovia has a relevance that goes beyond his importance as a guitarist. I have never stopped to think only of him as performer, because he transcended far above this level. The great master was the “manufacturer” of the first bridge that was able to transfer the guitar to cultural environments that – in those times – were alone occupied by instruments like the violin, the piano or the cello.

Although previously Tárrega or Sor fulfilled this, they did it only in certain restricted environments; in “friends meetings” or in small theaters. Segovia was the one who firmly planted the guitar in big concert places across the entire world. It was of such importance – the “iconic” figure that marked an authentic revolution in the world of the guitar.

Sobre el artista.

Nací en Junín, Argentina. Tuve un gran maestro; Osvaldo Moris, que no solo me brindó habilidades técnicas sino que generó una buena relación con la música y con la guitarra. Él era además, un luthier con cierta experiencia. Luego estudié Dirección Orquestal y en 1991 viajé a España, mi actual residencia. Siempre que he podido, he efectuado conciertos con mis propias obras o tocando arreglos de música de Astor Piazzolla, Egberto Gismonti o Nana Vasconçelos y como soy un amante del jazz, suelo agregar improvisaciones en mis obras. Hasta el año 2007, dediqué la mayor parte de mi tiempo a la música sinfónica, orquestando algunas óperas y musicales y dirigiendo la ópera “Las Moradas” del compositor Jose Luis Tierno en noviembre de 2007.

Sobre Segovia.

Segovia tiene una relevancia que va más allá de su importancia como guitarrista. Nunca me he detenido a pensar en él únicamente como ejecutante porque su trascendencia traspasa este nivel. El gran maestro fue el constructor del primer puente que consiguió trasladar la guitarra a ámbitos culturales que -en esas épocas- estaban solo ocupados  por instrumentos como el violín, el piano o el violonchelo. Si bien con anterioridad Tárrega o Sor cumplieron con este cometido, solo lo hacían en ámbitos reducidos, en tertulias o en pequeños teatros. Fue Segovia quien implantó con firmeza a la guitarra en grandes salas de concierto en todo el mundo. Fue de tal importancia su figura icónica, que marcó una auténtica revolución en el mundo de la guitarra.
